HOW WE CAME TO BE

Carl Daavettila founded Green Design-Build in 2009 to pursue his passion for design. Living in Jackson, WY since 1998, Carl has been involved with the construction, engineering, and design in this community for more than 20 years. Carl’s educational background is in Engineering, with a BS in Civil Engineering from Michigan Tech University. He worked for Harris Group post college on industrial design across the US, and then locally at Nelson Engineering for nearly a decade. Carl developed Green Design-Build in 2009 to step into his design career steeped in this valley, honoring his spacial design passion and gifts. 

The evolution of design in the American West is an astounding testament to the culture, and the art of living in harmony with the mountains. With rugged winters, relentless summer sun, each season offers ample beauty and potential for a curated relationship to place. In the West, the home is more than a shelter from the outdoors, it is the foundation for a beautiful life. Design is about the encapsulation of space that is created between walls, these spaces are the foundations of how we live our lives. When function and form work together with the landscape, there is a symphony of mastery in the home, the connection to the land, for those who live and visit there.
